Description: Abstract—In this paper we present an initial performance evaluation of the 3GPP UTRA Long Term Evolution (UTRA LTE) uplink with baseline settings. The performance results are obtained from a detailed UTRA LTE uplink link level simulator supporting OFDMA and SC-FDMA schemes. The basic transmission scheme for uplink direction is based on singlecarrier transmission in the form of DFT Spread OFDM with an MMSE receiver. Two antenna configurations, SISO and 1x2 SIMO are considered in the analysis of spectral efficiency in addition to Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) and L1- HARQ. For assessment purposes, the performance results of SC-FDMA are compared with OFDMA. It is shown that 1x2 SIMO greatly increases the spectral efficiency of SC-FDMA making it comparable to OFDMA, especially for high coding rate. Furthermore, SC-FDMA has a flexibility to increase BLER performance by exploiting frequency diversity.

Description: The major evolution of UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) in recent years is the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)which provides data rates up to 10Mbps. The implementation of HSDPA includes multicodes transmission in joint application with Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) as well as Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ). This thesis deals with the implementation of the HSDPA simulator in FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) mode according to 3GPP technical specifications. It also aims to study the HARQ algorithms for HSDPA. The performance of AMC is significantly degraded when higher order modulation (16-QAM) is used in a multipath environnement. Moreover, the HSDPA simulator requires a very long time of computation to provide good performance in multipath channel. In order to solve this problem, we have introduced a simplified simulator which exploits the performance of HSDPA over gaussien channel as look-up tables to compute the block error rate in multipath channel.

Moreover we analyse and make comparison of them.Secondly,we propose a new mac protocol named VR-TDMA.Simulation in NS2 proves that this protocol Canhave pleasing performance in real.time application.Thirdly,we make a comparison of some famous speech encoders.The result indicates that ADPCM(Adaptive Di脏rential Pulse Code Modulation)is simpler than advanced low bit。rate VOICe coding techniques and doesn’t require as heavy caculations.In this work,We simplify the algorithm in order tO make it fit for the networks beaer.Actual tests prove that this simplified algorithm work well in wireless sensor networks.
